Esemka targeted by Foreign Companies

Several representatives of foreign companies attending the exhibition International Auto Parts, Accessories and equip (INAPA) 2012 expressed an interest to cooperate with PT Solo Creative Manufacturing (SMK), car manufacturers Esemka. "I'm looking for an automotive company of Indonesia to cooperate," said Assistant Manager of Hantec Technology Development Team, Simon Lee, the time to visit its booth at INAPA PT SMI.

Lee explained the company is headquartered in South Korea's plans to build a machine component manufacturer in Southeast Asia, and Indonesia is one country in the list of countries with prospective automotive market.

Lee said Esemka car and other cars from Indonesia will be able to grow like a Hyundai or Kia from South Korea. Director of SMK, Sulistyo Rabono, said earlier there is also a representative of the engine control system designer from Australia to offer cooperation. "Actually, it is possible to cooperate with foreign companies, but it is for components that are not produced domestically," he said.

However, he asserted, PT CMS on a commitment to produce a national car through encouraging small and medium enterprises (SMEs) nationwide as the main cooperation partners. "If not (cooperate) with the SME (National) ... ya do not say these cars made in Indonesia," said Sulistyo.
